After researching this tool, I found that people are facing problems to use Janitor AI for free. And it’s really a pretty difficult task if you do not know the exact process.

For that reason, I have written this article on how to use Janitor AI for free, complete with step-by-step visuals. This way, you can easily grasp the process of using it.

In the following process, you will not need a single cent. It’s a completely free-to-use process.

How To Use Janitor AI For Free

You already know that to use Janitor AI, you need an API where you will have two options: the OpenAI API and the Kobold AI API. You can choose either one of them.

But when you choose Kobold AI, the process to obtain an API can be a challenging task that requires basic programming knowledge.

However, if you possess that knowledge, it’s the best way to chat with Janitor AI chatbot for free.

If you want a complete guide on how to use Janitor AI by utilizing the Kobold AI API, we will provide a comprehensive guide later on.

For now, I would like to go with the OpenAI API, which is user-friendly and doesn’t require any programming knowledge. You can obtain the API by following our simple steps.

But the point is, to use the OpenAI API, you need to pay $5 per month. 

However, as I mentioned earlier, here I will provide you with a step-by-step guide so that you can use it completely free of charge.

You just need to follow our steps, and you will gain free access to the OpenAI API Key.

I have divided all the steps to use Janitor AI into three main parts: Account Creation, Obtaining the OpenAI API Key, and Starting Chatting with Janitor AI Characters.

Account Creation

If you want to use Janitor AI, creating an account is mandatory. To create an account, you just need a valid email ID. If you don’t have one, please create it. 

Now you have your email id and then check out this step-by-step process: 

Step 1:) Firstly, you should visit the official website of Janitor AI. The official URL for Janitor AI is “https://www.janitorai.com/“.

Step 2:) Then you need to click on the “Register” option. You will find this upper right-side corner of the homepage. 

Step 3:) Afterward, you need to click on the “Register with Google” option, but please remember that you must be at least 18 years old before proceeding with the click.

 Step 4:) Next, you should complete the form by providing your details and click on the “Submit” option. Please note that you can update these details later, and they will be helpful when interacting with any character.

Now your account creation process in Janitor AI is complete. After that you can choose your favorite fictional character from the home page. In my case I chose the Lisa Minci Character which is a popular anime character, if you know you know. 

Getting An OpenAI API Key For Free

After creating an account in Janitor, you can select any of the fictional characters and obtain comprehensive information about your chosen character.

But the problem arises when you start chatting with the character, and it shows “API not Ready! Click to Setup.” This is why you need an API key.

Here you will get an insight into how to get the Janitor AI API key through OpenAI for Free. 

Step 5:) When you finish the account creation process and start conversing with your favorite anime character, you’ll notice an error notification in the upper right corner. Within this notification, you’ll need to click on “API not Ready! Click to Set Up.”

Step 6:) After that, a page will appear where you will find the option to choose “OpenAI” and then “Reverse Proxy.” Once you have selected these two options, you will need to complete a form with your OpenAI Reverse Proxy Key.

Step 7:) To get the OpenAI Reverse Proxy Key, you need to open a New Tab in your browser and search for “Chat Gpt Reverse Proxy” and click on the first SERP result of Google. 

Step 8:) After opening the first web page appearing on Google, find the option to join the “Discord” Server and click on that. 

Step 9:) Next, you will need to join Pawan.krd’s Discord server by following a few simple steps. I believe you can accomplish this task effortlessly, which is why I won’t provide explicit instructions on how to join. It’s truly a straightforward endeavor. 

Step 10:) I assume that you completed the steps to join the Discord server and land on this page. And here you need to wait 10 minutes to do the next step. 

Step 11:) After spending 10 minutes on that Discord server, you just click on the “Bot” channel option. 

Step 12:) After joining the Bot channel, you just simply type “/key” and press Enter. After a few seconds, you will get your API key. You just need to copy the API Key at first and then paste it in the “Reverse Proxy Key” box (previously opened window).  

Step 13:) And then you need a OpenAI Reverse Proxy for that you just click on the “Reverse-Proxy” channel, you will find it in the Discord server and after that you will get your Open AI Reverse Proxy. 

Step 14:) After copying the Reverse Proxy, you just simply paste it in the “Open AI Reverse Proxy” box and click on the “Save Settings” button. 

Step 15:) You have done all the tasks to get API Key and now you can start chatting with your favorite character. 

Start Chatting With Characters 

After submitting the OpenAI Reverse Proxy, you have done all the tasks. Now you are ready to use Janitor AI for free. 

To start chatting, you just need to select any of your favorite game or anime characters and then begin conversing. 

In my case, I previously chose Lisa Minci, you know that already, and started chatting with a simple “Hello”. 

Is Janitor AI Free To Use? 

Yes, you can use Janitor AI for completely free. For that, you just need an API from OpenAI or Kobold. 

Kobold AI API is free to use.

But if you wish to utilize the OpenAI API, you will need to pay $5 per month. Free users of OpenAI do not have access to their API, and even if they do, it will not be approved by Janitor AI.
